Mecha are self-propelling machines that are modeled after humans; some can change into multiple, non-humanoid formats as well. They're usually controlled by an internal pilot or by remote, but are sometimes sentient beings that move autonomously. A mecha's size ranges from bulky, wearable armor to a massive, towering contraption and beyond. While mecha have a wide range of applications, such as making manual labor easier, they are most commonly portrayed as heavily-armed war machines.

Well, he gets rather upset and violent. The planet Jerra has this exact problem. M.D. Geist thrives on battle and death and when he gets the chance to trigger the ultimate doomsday program, the Death Force, he takes it and turns the entire face of Jerra into a battlefield as thousands of robots turn out and begin to destroy all life on the planet.
Asagiri Yohko is an ordinary high school student, and she is in love with a boy who does not know it. To help things along, she has written a song to explain how she feels but that song has quite a bit more than a couple of good bridges.
Yohko learns that while she is listening to her song, she is transported to Earth's other-dimensional sister world "Ashanti." This song has the potential to open a gateway between Earth and Ashanti wide enough for a conquering force to invade and take over. And it is exactly why it was forbidden eons ago by the legendary warrior Leda who saw this coming.
This Leda warrior's duty now falls to Yohko and some newfound friends to stop the onslaught and return the 2 worlds in balance.
Maybe Yohko is not so ordinary after all.
It starts off in a familiar sort of way. Mankind has got it's collective act together enough to build a high energy physics lab. And, barring the collective howls from anyone who'd want to work on it, have built it on a featureless island in the middle of some ocean. This lab procedes to discover a new sub-atomic energy source which, being humans, we turn into an energy beam weapon and mount on a satellite. We also test it on a spare aircraft carrier. And while the weapon is more successful it also causes a strange black vortex to occur, from which emerges a huge and strange statue. An on-site mini-submarine crew, against their own wishes for self preservation, are ordered to grab a sample.
There is distorted, deep blackness everywhere. That place, in which blackness swallowed everything and took away everything, has become known as the Avidya Zone. Strange beings assume the very form of the despair and chaos of humanity. They are known by this name: Imashime.
An expedition surveys the Avidya Zone which consumes human spirits. So, in the intricate intersection between the present in impending crisis and the destiny of the past … can eight boys and girls, assembled to confront the Imashime, find the bright future that lies before the Avidya Zone?
* Alternate telling of the OVA... with a twist. After starting out in a new school and meeting her rather zany classmates, Nuku Nuku is forced into fighting the dangerous (read as "absurd") robots of the Mishima corporation's inner circle (all in the most ridiculous costumes since Kishin Heidan), led by the evil mastermind (read as "blithering-idiot-in-the-goofiest-costume-of-all"), Hell Mishima. Their plan? Why, to take over the world, of course!
A scientist, his son, and an incomplete biotech-type android are sneaking away from the scientist's psychotic wife. Along the way, the son gets out of the Jeep to satisfy an urge of nature, and comes back with a cat. At this point, gunfire erupts around them, and they try to get away. They succeed, but the cat was killed by a stray bullet.
Sometime later, the son attends school with his "big sister" named Nuku Nuku. Yes, this is the android — who now looks like a cute girl — with the brain of the dead cat. Of course, things do not stay peaceful for long; the boy's mother wants him back! And so the fast-paced action comedy begins.
It's been a thousand years since the Gauna, a strange alien race with no known method of communication, destroyed the solar system. A portion of humanity managed to escape using enormous "seed ships" like the Sidonia, which have allowed them to maintain the population while drifting through space. Nagate Tanikaze is a young man who has been raised deep in the bowels of the ship. When he goes into training to pilot the huge robotic weapons known as Gardes, Nagate is entrusted with piloting the legendary unit known as Tsugumori. Nagate and his fellow pilots put their lives on the line against the Gauna, in the ultimate battle for the survival of humanity!
The comedy centers around a high school boy named Madanbashi Kouichi who has Hi-ERo particles, the power source to operate the robotic weapon Daimidaler. With the help of Sonan Kyouko from the mysterious Prince Beauty Parlor organization, he stands up against the Penguin Empire that troubles humanity.
In the late Edo period, Japan faced an unprecedented crisis with the arrival of black ships from overseas. However, Japan drove away the black ships thanks to Onigami, giant robots that have existed in Japan since the ancient times. The country has remained in self-imposed seclusion from foreigners ever since. The story begins in this Japan that never experienced the Meiji Restoration.
